Rozel Hill Climb

A reasonable turnout on a rather lovely evening for what is the first of the 3 Hill Climbs in the Series. 

The first hill was a good wake up for the competitors given it’s gradient, especially nearing the top.  Interesting to note the various gear selections at the start line including one fixed gear plus some rather fetching lycra (you know who you are!!).

The second hill was the long drag up past La Tourelle, continuing on and on beyond the corner as far as the turning off to Bouley Bay.  While a total of between 5 and 8 minutes effort seems relatively little there were certainly a few red faces from the effort. 

Some impressive times with Robin coming out top followed by Chris and Adam in the Seniors Category.  NLC’s rather elegant effort was rather stymied by the unusual occurence of a bus coming along when it was not wanted.  First Vet was Kevin Pilley who seemed to have recovered, physically at least, from Sunday’s efforts and well done to Kevin Mahoney just seconds behind and Bill Buist hot on his tail.

Good to see the juniors out with Sam dominating and taking the lead from Karl, both showing a preference for the longer climb past La Tourelle.  Steven doing well in third. 

Also good to see Susan, first and only lady holding her own.

Overall a fun and tough event, with a bit of fine tuning to come before the next in the series - 17th June at Bonne Nuit - to ensure that there is less recovery time between hills!
