08.05.09 TT Weekend

What a great weekend...no rain, light breezes, dry roads and warm temperatures...great time trialling weather. Not sure who came up with the idea for a TT festival over the 3 day Liberation weekend but it seems to have gone down well although the athletes TT on Saturday was less popular, but did bring out some riders who normally avoid TTs. From a Velo perspective Doc Snook was going well, Mick Higginson finishing top Vet on Friday (a good sign for the Italian trip, it’s only 150k longer), Jo & Susan continued their rivalry...is it true Jo pushed you into the hedge on Sunday Susan (and they were riding as a pair!), Stephen Haley dominated the Juniors and Jim carried all behind her as top Lady. Other performances of note...Kevin & Doc King showing there’s life in the old legs yet on Sunday finishing second and Mark Nish putting in a strong performance in the singles. Top marks go to Chris Spence setting a new course record on Friday. Good to see some new Velo members taking part...Pino Mantelli decided to take the scenic route on Sunday & Alan Graham riding with Ian Williams.... and we even saw Kenny Patrick doing a TT!

These events don’t happen without organisers and marshalls who did a great job ove the 3 days. A big thank you to... Rob Erskine, Tony Moffa, Harvey Brookfield, Bob Cabot, Russell Crowder, Mark Cashion, Des McClelland, Shaun Bosio, Andrew Davis, Nick Le Cocq, Dave Jardine, Andy Ilton, Mrs Pushman and another Lady I don’t know and anyone else who asisted and I have missed...apologies
