08.06.01 Round Island TT
Perfect conditions greeted riders taking part in the Round the Island TT from La Mare slip to Red Houses via Gorey hill (what joy), St Martins, Maufant, Trinity, Les Platons, St Johns, St Mary, St Ouens, Bal Tab, Hydrangea (real joy), the 5 mile road, La Pulente (hopefully there was some juice left in the tank) and finally the long drag up to Red Houses. Its one of those courses that is difficult to pace and clearly as the results show some did it better than others. There was the normal excuses of cars, trucks, tractors horseboxes and even a boat...ask Des...apparently he even stopped to measure it (17ft for those interested). Its also easy to go off track as Paul Millar discovered, hard luck mate. As for times Mark Nish was our best rider, followed by Mick Higginson and Bill Buist. Thanks to the 3Cs for organising, marshalling was excellent.
