08.06.03 Les Platon evening RR

There was a pretty good turnout for this second race of the series, particularly in Div2 . Fortunately the rain of the last few days had passed on and the roads were try and reasonably clear of debris so riders had no need to tip toe round the course. Div 1 from what I could see split into groups early on with a leading bunch of four getting away with at least 2 laps to go, Dave Jardine making a welcome return to winning ways. Div 2 saw a large bunch sprint at the end...a nightmare for the organisers who have done their best to put everyone in the right order.... its only the first 5 places that really matter from a series/points perspective, good result for Dick Turpin. Div 3 saw various attempts by Velo riders to get away chased down each time by Mart Bartelli leaving Tom Phillips with fresh legs to come through at the end and take the honours ahead of Mark Bradley putting in excellent performance in his first road race.. Thanks to organisers Mick Higginson and Neil Laugeard, supported by marshalls Andy Munns, Doc Snook , Ian Williams & Alan Irving. Finally great to see 3 Velo juniors racing and 2 of them beat me...but then I’m just an old has been....cue violins!
