08.09.07 JCA Hill Climb

I have received complaints from certain quarters that the reporting on these pages is biased towards VSJ (you can guess who). Now to a journalist with the highest ethical standards this is an outrageous accusation....as I have no ethical standards I am happy to plead guilty. My view has always been that these pages are there to read about, and celebrate the success, pain, effort and occasional humour (that’ll be Des in the main) that Velo members enjoy. In this case another good day for our riders with Vince keeping a stranglehold on the hill climb title...I am told he was not pleased with his time...I suppose its all relative but a winning time of 2.05 looks superb to me. Just as good was Sam Carney’s effort winning the juniors...he does have a huge advantage weighing about the same as a sparrow but what a great ride sharing the same time as Mike Harris and just a second off Mike Mitch who took 3rd place in the Vets...see it was worth getting up early. For the ladies Jo showed Mary a clean pair of pedals, great to see Velo taking Gold & Silver. Congrats also to Stephen Haley and Karl Laugeard second and third in the Juniors...good rides both...its hard to beat someone with that power to weight ratio! All complaints should be addressed to the editor...who will completey ignore them!
