Easter Road Race, Watersplash Circuit
I’m not sure which is worse, Jubilee once as fast as you can or 4 times trying to maintain the pace of the leading rider as the group battles its way up, I suppose to be honest the pain level (high) was probably about the same! Full marks to Andy Munns for a great ride, coming soon after his return from the Firemans Games in Australia where he put in some good performances (not helped by a broken chain in the first event).
The first group minus a few stragglers kept together until being caught just before the end of the third lap. This made the final climb hard work if you wanted to stay with the group, great effort for those in my group, Simon, Spencer, Des, Tony, Craig et al who managed to hang on to the second group to the top...I didn’t. The fast boys were gaining fast and came past me at the top of the climb but never manged to catch the main pack with Andy winning the sprint and Mike Mitch taking third, fantastic result. Jim continued her good form staying with the leaders in group 2 all the way from the start and taking first lady. Good to see such a good Velo turnout with 30 members riding.
