JCA Road race 19th Aug 2007

Another glorious summers morning (joke, but at least it was dry)* greeted a large turn out for this years JCA road race over what is fondly known as the Crotcher course. This time facing the 3 climbs contained in each lap including L’Etacq was bad enough, but the strong headwind blowing North to South down the 5 mile road made the course a real challenge although it was great fun coming the other way.

For the Seniors Richard triumphed in convincing fashion despite a brave attempt by Chris Spence to stay away and Andy Munns sadly couldn’t hold on to Dave Mayman in the Vets and had to settle for second. Jim won another convincing victory in the Ladies and Sam Carney did a great job completing the course. Full marks firstly to all who turn up and even greater praise to all who finished.

A big thank you to the organisers, Mary, Andy & Toby and all the marshalls, Andy Scriminger, Jim Dave, Laura & Partner, JPB, Gemma, Mark & all the faces I can’t remember in the blur of pain, for doing such an excellent job, great event.

Finally I understand (know) that Mr Rowland was taking pictures which is fantastic...check the photo site...however I am not sure about this desire for close ups of various riders including me in severe pain on L’Etacq!

* Actual conditions - Very strong North Westerly winds.  Those using deep rims brave or otherwise...
